President
Barrie
Price

Nobody knows more about Lea-Francis cars, their history,
their design, and how to keep them going. Directly involved with the cars
from the age of 15, he bought the assets of the car division in 1962, and
since then has provided an excellent spares, repairs and restoration
service, as well as producing a number of new cars of distinction. He has
somehow found time to acquire great expertise on Bugatti and Jaguar as well,
and ran a Rolls-Royce and Bentley service facility for 40 years.
A man of meticulous taste, he is still approachable and helpful to anyone
experiencing problems with a Lea-Francis
Chairman
Allan Lupton

Gave
himself his first Lea-Francis for his 21st birthday, a 2½ litre Sports which
he wore out in 5 years commuting, rallying and sprinting. Followed 20 years
later by the 1938 12.9hp Corsica-bodied Sports, which he still owns and
rallies with success. Joining the Club in 1959 he was Secretary 3 years
later, subsequently Treasurer, then most notably Editor of The LeaFlet from
1982 to 2000, making it into one of the best small club’s magazines. With a
background in the aircraft industry, he has a firm grasp of engineering
principles
Vice-Chairman
Mike Neale

A retired solicitor, Mike came later to Lea-Francis, but has made up for
lost time with great enthusiasm and now has three vintage examples,
including a splendidly rebuilt Hyper with which he competes in hill climbs
and sprints, and a P type for navigational rallies.
General Secretary
& LeaFlet Editor
Robin Sawers

In earlier years dared to own other makes but kept coming back to LeaFs,
both vintage and post-war, from a 1926 J type to a 1949 14hp estate, all
used as everyday transport. Returning to vintage L-F ownership in 1982, he
found himself Secretary of the Club a year later, and has enjoyed watching
the Club go from strength to strength and gaining so many friends
world-wide.
Competition Secretary
Hugh Price

Brought up in the true faith by his father, the owner of the Lea-Francis
name, Hugh has shown some signs of rebellion but has always been a great
supporter of the Club, organising social events in the 80s, more recently
looking after regalia, and taking over as Comp Sec in 2003.
Membership Secretary
Barny Creaser

A keen member for a number of years, Barny started with a
14hp special and graduated to the 14hp Sports he still has. He has already
served as Competition Secretary and since April 2006 handles membership
matters.
Regalia Sales
Colin Daw

A recent recruit compared with the rest of us,
Colin joined in 1995 on purchasing his trusty 1928 P type, and has always
tried to make himself useful. The regalia (which he took over in 2003), as
well as the Jubilee Book stock, share a building with the fruit Colin sells
wholesale.
Treasurer
Gillian Creaser

Gillian
faithfully accompanies husband Barny (Membership Secretary) to meetings.
Treasurer since April 2006, she is the first one we have had with actual
accountancy qualifications.
Spares Secretary
Peter Baston

Peter takes over from John Hayes as Spares
Secretary for 2005. Peter is a well known figure in the Club who has
contributed so much, not only as Competition Secretary, but with help and
advice for so many members, and as organiser of the NEC shows and the
Jubilee events among others. His two 14 Sports are both superb restorations
and probably the best sorted examples of the model, and he now has a Hyper
as well in need of complete restoration.
Registrar (pre-1937)
Colin Poynter

Son of Chairman Keith, Colin races a matching red Hyper
with much success, the same car in which he attended his first race meeting
at the age of six months. Like his father, always drives the car to
meetings. Growing up in a house with pictures and books on Lea-Francis
everywhere, he was already knowledgeable at an early age, and study of the
old records has deepened that knowledge since taking on the Register in
1989.
Registrar (post-1937)
Chris Moseley

Arriving from his native Australia as an
impecunious student in 1974, Chris bought his first Lea-Francis 14hp saloon
and joined the Club. A great enthusiast for the post-war cars, he was the
ideal person to take on the Register in 1989. He currently owns a frequently
used 14hp four-light saloon as well as the rare six-light version.
Former President
Tom Delaney
Deceased, August 31, 2006, R.I.P.

As a lad Tom worked in the Lea-Francis pit at
the 1928 TT won by the Hyper he subsequently raced himself with success in
the early 30s, and again in recent years in vintage events, which he reckoned
was the best way to keep feeling young!
Sadly, the position of President has just become vacant with Tom's death
aged 95. Tom Delaney continued to race his Hyper Lea-Francis until a couple
of months before his death. He was the oldest driver still racing, and last
year became the oldest driver to win a race. He was an inspiration to us
all, and a fount of knowledge on Lea-Francis in the vintage days.
