With George's efficient production of the LeaFlet your chairman's traditional greetings will be rather early but the wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year are as genuine as ever.

The post-Jubilee year seems to have gone well, membership is sound and yet more are competing in Leafs with ever increasing success. It is now a rare trial or rally that does not have a Leaf amongst the best.

The well publicized Harrogate Celebration Week organized by John Gill witnesses nine awards by seven members driving eight LeaFs while in the more recent Goodwood Autumn Sprint three out of the four members competing won their respective classes.

Earlier, at the prestigious "revival" meeting, Tom demonstrated that he had lost none of his legendary enthusiasm, despite his beloved Hyper literally biting the hand that feeds it by throwing him out and then running over him at the Silverstone 500 Mile Race re-enactment. Tom's fitness regime obviously pays off since he was racing just a few weeks later, with a new helmet and gloves as if nothing had happened.

If only the TV reporter interviewing Tom at Goodwood had known!

Of course, it is not just in little old Britain that all this goes on. Throughout the World members and their Leafs are demonstrating their enthusiasm and versatility of Lea-Francis in all sorts of things, from out and out "no quarter given" racing to the purely private pleasure of just enjoying a well-loved piece of machinery.

Long may it all continue. And while considering that thought, a goodly number would wish a special seasonal greeting to "Mr. Lea-Francis", our friend Barrie Price, without whose spares and advice many would have difficulty in continuing this enjoyment.

Greetings and best wishes to you all and "Happy Leafing"
